So here’s the thing.

Just to say, I’m amazed, blown away, stupefied by the happy accidents and serendipity recently. From finding old sketches for a website from 2009 to snippets of writing and saved resources, I’ve had everything I’ve needed throughout the process of creating this website.

It occurs to me that in my allowing myself the freedom to float at times over the last few years, from project to project, thought to thought – only making sure I created, documented or captured it in some way. And, in my discoveries, I’ve also realized that I have tons of other half-cooked ideas and plans I’ve been storing up, it seems…

The insight for me here, is that it’s so important to wander, explore and play sometimes, and the “results” may not be definable for some time, and perhaps never. And that’s okay, too.

Things I’m Not Doing

In an effort to “just go,” just build this website and not sweat the small stuff, I’m noticing a conflict. I’m visual, I like design and little nuances can bug me but if I attended to every last one, I’d be here for days.

And that’s not the point. The point is to get on with it and know that done is better than perfect, an iterative approach will allow the creation, in this case the website, to talk back and tell me what needs to happen.

So. I’m not getting caught up in the design & branding details right now. Big picture stuff, yes. Devilish details, no.

Hello world!

Hello World!

A word about “Hello World”: Hello World is the basic command programmers use to ping and test the initial set up of any new communication. It’s both functional and celebratory, acknowledging the the joy of a successful broadcast.

To me, it holds evocations of the experimentation and play during my time learning to write code and create interactive spaces, when seeing a Hello World across the terminal or on a website was THE most exciting thing.
